The iconic building for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights at the Forks in Winnipeg, MB is a national historic site where the Red and Assiniboine rivers meet. It has served as a meeting place for thousands of years, where people have come to trade and resolve disputes peacefully.
The CMHR is an innovative and complex structure that utilizes the most up-to-date building technology in its construction. The unique shape of the building required a unique strategy for construction combining Tyndall stone and large glazed glass super-structure to create an icon inspired by the Canadian landscape.
The Museum is not only a unique building, but also aims to be a sustainable building. A LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified Silver designation drove significant design and control system hurdles. The paging system was unique in that it implemented programmable DSP delivered in a distributed, extensible design capable of changing and growing with various exhibitions which may grace the various exhibit spaces.
